  • Resolutions for the New Year

I'm not a big resolutions guy. I tend to think if you need to make a big life change, the time to make the change is at that very moment you realize it, not on an arbitrary date like January 1. That said, I am a believer in writing down your goals. And I have a few that I would like to put down on virtual paper, so you all can remind me when I've dilly dallied too long. So in no particular order....
    • Get on Twitter. I've been meaning to do this for years, and if I get a smartphone, I'll have no excuse.
    • Make exercise videos. I've drafted up a bunch of short workout videos with my favorite tips. I just have to film them.
    • Rework the website to be more "touch" friendly. With smartphones and Windows 8 maximizing touch, ActiveMSers.org needs to be easier to navigate.
    • Update the exercise tips section. I've learned a lot of new ones that I need to add.
    • Redo the exercise studies area on the website. There are a ton of abstracts that I need to promote on the main website.
    • Be better about sending newsletters. I get busy and then, well, a month or two goes by without any of you getting my humorous prattles, which research shows can be really helpful.
    • Get reimbursed for my clinical trial. Yes, it's a big task, but I believe it's doable. So I am going to do it.

So there you have it. What are some of your goals for 2013? I want to hear about them... so I can harass you later to see if you are following through. And you know I will!

And try to ride my snowboard. Standing. On my two legs. On January 26 (first adaptive ski lesson). Emphasis on the word "try." I may fail, but that's better than never trying at all.

I'm pretty jazzed about the new year. I want to get outdoors on my bike before the weather gets warm again. I would also like to do some swimming this summer. I think I just want to play more!

I am also looking forward to taking a couple of trips later in the year. I'm learning a lot about managing fatigue and maintaining my energy level. I'll need all the tricks and strategies I can come up with if I'm going to start hopping around time zones!

Well, you know me Dave, not so big on resolutions either, but I would like to engage in a little behavoir modification, a lot of it having to do with slowing things down a bit. So, I'm aiming to spend less time on the computer and more time reading books, less time on the bike and more time on the elliptical and in the weight room. Like you said, no big life changes, just little nudges in direction intended to keep the wheels out of the ruts.

I've also got a trip coming up this year. Looks like it will involve quite a bit of walking and only a couple of months to prepare. Indeed, I also see managing the fatigue as key and I think that whole process starts right now with more walking related exercise.
