    Primary Lateral Sclerosis?

I just came across this motor neuron condition which causes mobility issues similar to MS and ALS.

Has anyone heard of it or know if it is treated the same way as MS?

It sounds like a milder version of ALS that brings about progressive disability but is not fatal.

Heard of, yes, I think so but not sure where. So I know nothing about it. Good to know it isn't fatal.

According to http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/p..._sclerosis.htm, only the symptoms are treated. Sounds familiar!

Thanks for the link Sparky. I like the NINDS overviews. It's interesting to me that this upper motor neuron disease has no mentioned DMD's that I've found so far. The article describes degeneration of the cells of the cerebral cortex but doesn't call this an autoimmune disease.

My neurologist did do an EMG to rule out ALS. I think she mentioned primary lateral sclerosis as a possibility given the symptoms I initially had. But I also had a spinal tap, and she felt those results to be conclusive for MS.

Palliative care does sound like familiar territory doesn't it?
