  • ABQ: Chair Yoga for Chronic Conditions

Abby, who teaches yoga for MSers in Nob Hill, has a few updates I'd like to pass along. -D

    -------------------

    Hi everyone!

I hope you've all had a wonderful summer.

I wanted to touch base with you about our Yoga for MS class. We are on hiatus at the moment (*don't come to class tomorrow--it's not happening*) but we will be back on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at High Desert Yoga in Nob Hill, the same place we've been since the spring.

    The big fancy changes are:

    1) We will have a regular ongoing class on Thursdays at 12:45 until next summer, and we won't be doing 8-week sessions with breaks anymore.

    2) The name of the class is changing. It will be called Chair Yoga for Chronic Conditions, so our friends with Parkinsons and rheumatoid arthritis and all kinds of other issues will be more clearly welcome in our class too. Nothing about what we do in the class is really going to change much (unless you want it to--if there's something you want more or less of, or wish we were doing, email me and let me know!)

    3) The class will be priced at the regular rates at High Desert Yoga, which are as follows for 60-minute classes:

$13 drop in for one class

    $60 for 5 classes

    $110 for 10 classes

If you buy a package of 5 or 10 classes, you will need to use them within 60 days.

It is important to me, and to the studio, that we not price people out of yoga. If the cost is prohibitive for you, or would keep you from coming every week if you want to, send me an email. I am confident that I could bargain the studio down to $10 or maybe less for those of you who need that. Don't be shy--we will miss you in class if you can't come, and it's important to me that cost not be the reason.

The studio address is 4600 Copper Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. There is a nice big parking lot at the building, and there is a fully accessibly bathroom, but it's across a little courtyard in the adjacent building, the healing arts center.

One of the things I love about High Desert is their abundant attitude about props--there are loads of them and I'm pretty excited about using all the props we can.

If the new class time doesn't work for you, but you'd like to find a class that does fit with your schedule, also send me an email. I can help you find something not geared specifically for MS that will still feel really good for you.

So, please let me know if you have any questions or comments--I'd love to hear from you.

I hope you're all doing well and I look forward to practicing with you again soon!

    Abby
