  • gift horse in the mouth?

I am currently trying to train for my first ironman this summer. Anyway not feeling great- a round of steroids-still have foot drop since December.
On the upside the ortho I am seeing is an iroman, even raced Kona this year. So he gets "it" He said that if I don't have any serious issues he will see me to the finish line! I am still waiting for my noodle AFO ( the new one not even out yet, with plantar flexion for the bike) I was feeling fairly sorry for myself a few weeks ago and shared solutions called and I whining but about how bad I was feeling while trying to train, anyway they said they would send me a team copaxone bike jersey and what size did I take. Well I was thinking women's so I said medium because better a little too big than too small. I was so happy today when in my mailbox was a package and it was my free really cool looking ( yeah I know not really free) and it is a size mens medium.
My question is am I looking a gift horse in the mouth to call back and ask to trade mine in for a xs or should I look not really cool in a way too big mens jersey?
    Thanks
I will let you all know about Kinetic noodles new afo after I test it!

Call them and get the smaller size. They'll probably be amused, you will look more cool, and you can get back to being an inspiration to the rest of us.

Yah, I'd bug them, too. I'm sure they'd rather see you in a jersey that fits. Maybe ask them to put my logo on it--it's a guaranteed winner (re: Kelly wins San Juan).

Thanks I will give them a call tomorrow. I had an interesting day ~ don't use sharp knives when your in a hurry and have lost some of your fine motor skills ~ you will spend time at urgent care! Always a new adventure with me.

I called to get the jersey switched, but the young man who answered the phone had no idea what I talking about. A few hours later he called back and said they didn't have anymore and it was a one size fits all? I thanked him and thought that was the end of it. About 1/2 hour later a woman called back and said she didn't know where the jersey came from but she would check it out and try to get me a different size. I have not heard back yet.
Hey Dave do you sell stickers with your logo on it? I think my chances of getting a sponser to buy my racing wear are about zero, but I would love the logo on the back of my bike helmet!
          Thanks

Alas, Jill, I don't have any stickers, but that gives me an idea. If I supply the logo, would you be game to get one (or more) made for yourself? That could help spread the word and keep my out-of-pocket cost (and time cost) for this effort at zero. Here's a custom sticker company I found; rates are $8 a sticker (for vinyl) I think.

Shoot me an e-mail at dave@activemsers.org and I'll send over a logo if you are interested. I'll upload a copy on the main site too when I do my next round of updates.

Well I heard back from a different women who actually lives in the town next to mine that they can't get the jersey any smaller because it was an order from awhile ago and that is the smallest they have left. But she did think she could get a sleeveless one smaller.
It came in the mail today! and fits much better! I still have 1 1/2 hour ride today so I have my new jersey to wear. Hey Dave I ordered some stickers from the link you gave me(Canada) They were supposed to arrive mid April and they came today! I just got a few different sizes I guess they would br prodotypes? They are quite cute. I wish I could post a photo of them but I don't know how. I have 2 oval bumper stickers, 6-3 inch round (I think I will put that on my bike helmet),4 -4inch square and 4 -4 inch round.

Got the extras in the mail, Jill. The stickers look awesome! I'm going to stick them everywhere, even on random cars and such. Well, maybe not random cars. Thanks again so much!

                    Jill or Dave -

Any chance I could buy an extra sticker from you for my kayak? That might help motivate my training for my 340 mile kayak race this summer. Or do you know if the company keeps the logo and could make more upon request?
