  • Inexpensive Lightweight Wheelchair suggestions

I'm new to this site but not to MS. I was diagnosed in 1978. I am still ambulatory but my legs get really tired when I walk a lot so I use a cane when I know I have to go far. My husband wants to go to Italy next year and I want to bring either a lightweight wheelchair or scooter. Any suggestions?

When I was in Italy, I used a chair, but I ran into an MSer who was using a scooter. She said it got her around quite well, and it gives you a bit more freedom if your spouse opts to wander. Cobblestones and curbs, etc., will be problems you'll have to navigate, but I expect you already know that. Having working legs, even if they barely work, makes dealing with those obstacles easier.

Thanks, Dave. I was in Italy many years ago when I was in my teens (and before MS). I'm looking forward to it but nervous too! It will be an adventure!!!
