  • RECRUITING: 13 triathletes for 70.3 Ironman relay (Apr 2)

Our resident pro triathlete Kelly Williamson is doing something special this spring for MS. She has volunteered to train 13 athletes to race in the Galveston, TX 70.3 Ironman coming up on April 2. As long as you can get to Galveston for the race, you can live anywhere. Slots are filling up, but a few remain. Interested? Contact Kelly directly. - D

So we are gonna try something new. *We are gonna call it "Project 13." *Why?

When you enter a bike race, you don't always get to pick your number. *There's a tradition in cycling that if you are unfortunate enough to receive the number "13", you turn it upside down to knock out all the bad luck.

Taking a philosophical view of this tradition, your life isn't about things that happen to you that are beyond your control. *Your life is defined by what you choose to do about those things. Getting an MS diagnosis sucks. *But what matters is what you choose to do about it. *

Project 13 will provide an opportunity for up to 13 people living with MS to do a challenge beyond the ordinary. *A way for us to give a little extra "FU" to "FUMS." *And that challenge will change every year. *

In 2017, the Project 13 challenge will be to compete in the Galveston Ironman 70.3. *We will pay entry fees and help cover other expenses (training plans, equipment, etc) to prepare up to 13 athletes living with MS to compete as an individual or as part of a relay. *

These athletes will also be required to volunteer and give back to the MS community *as a condition of accepting the challenge. *

If you or someone you know is interested, stay tuned. *This one is in a short fuse- *the race is on*April 2.

Kelly says they need commitments within a week or so. Fence sitters, you might want to stand up.
