Major International Stem Cell Trials For Multiple Sclerosis Get Funding

UK scientists getting ready to work on major international trials to investigate the safety and effectiveness of stem cells in slowing, stopping or reversing brain and spinal cord damage in people with multiple scleroris (MS) have received £1 million in funds from the MS Society and the UK Stem Cell Foundation (UKCSF).

    UK Trials

This trial is for MSC therapy not HSCT treatment. Big difference. MSC therapy attempts to repair damaged done by MS but once a person has an attack any benifit from this therapy is quickly reversed. HSCT attempts to stop the disease and rely on its absence for nerve repair. The ultimate would be to combine treatments at 18 month intervals....suffice to say unless you have HSCT or your relapses are 5 years in between MSC therapy is money down the drain.
