  • Question: Ab muscle weakness

Member Robert Brown asked this Q, referring to my recent blog on kayaking (http://activemsers.blogspot.com/2016...is-option.html) and Jane's Your Story (http://activemsers.org/morestories/t...cceptance.html). Thoughts?

Great story Dave. Thanks for sharing. Not to get off topic BUT, about those abs you and Jane Bow mentioned. What IS up with that and lower back muscles too. After bending over for a bit I have a hard time standing up straight again. Many of the MSer’s I know have these problems. I have a terrible time with it AND I have the MS Python (hug) 24/7/365! So using my upper abs just adds to the length of the python.

Yah, what is up with weak abs?

Dave, I laughed so hard when I read your post about the kayak. One, because it was plain funny. You're a funny storyteller. Two, because I have a weak core and know exactly what you are talking about.

When I gotta rest my core, I gotta rest it. And it can happen on a leisurely walk with family or the grocery store, what ever. I just say to my family - "I gotta lie down... now". So when I read your story, I shared it with my family. They laughed. They shared the experience. It showed other people with MS lie down too, and why not admire the clouds and joke about the silliness of the situation....

Now, how can we work to strengthen our core?

Suebee, yeah, that is the $64,000 dollar question. I'd love to find a dozen or so sure fire core strengthening exercises. I'm sure there's almost nothing that a strong core wouldn't help.
