  • Lightweight trail stool impresses

When I've need to take a break hiking, I've used the cane/stool combo, which I've discovered is both a poor cane and a poor seat. So when a friend gave me his REI trail stool to try, I jumped.

It holds up to 225 lbs, is far more stable than the cane stool (I can now relax sitting down instead of worrying about tipping over), and is easier to carry--just strap it to your pack or sling it over your shoulder (or give it to your wife, ha). A nice companion especially when hiking with forearm crutches or trekking poles. Thumbs up for this $22 piece of gear.
