Stanford stem cell research offers new hope for multiple sclerosis patients
Ron Leuty, Reporter, San Francisco Business Times

Stanford University researchers have created cells from ordinary skin cells that could "rewrap" and protect nerve cells damaged in multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and other conditions.

The research is early only with mice and rats so far but a study published online Sunday in the journal Nature Biotechnology indicated that the process of making these cells ultimately could offer a new approach to MS and other diseases in humans.
