  • "I might come in last, but I'm going to do it anyway”

Read a just beautiful story in a publication called Neurology this week.

The story is about a 6 year old girl called Brianna. Brianna has hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) a neurologic disease which causes "progressive weakness and spasticity, or stiffness, in the lower extremities, mostly the leg and hip muscles". Brianna uses a walker.

Brianna's mom takes part in marathons and entered the Marine Corp Marathon. This event also holds a 1 mile fun run for those not able to participate in the marathon. Brianna decided to enter the 1 mile fun run.

She trained for the event by walking up and down her street where she lives in Columbus, OH.

Her attitude toward the fun run was "I might come in last, but I'm going to do it anyway”.

She completed the event, escorted by at least two Marines and several other cheer leaders. She did not come in last either. Her mom reported that “There were three girls behind her who walked the mile run.”

Full story in link below. Picture of Brianna taking part in the fun run escorted by 2 Marines attached. Had to share. Just inspiring.
