  • HSCT treatment in Sweden

A close relative is looking into treating her RRMS with HSCT. As Europe is the most viable option I'm interested to hear about any experience from Karolinska University hospital in Sweden.

I've managed to find a blog from a Norwegian woman describing her experience and her life after the treatment. By contacting the hospital I've got the info that they have expanded the capacity and how the process looks like. I'm however looking into additional sources of information. Do you guys have any input? Thanks

Peter, I moved this thread into my HSCT journey. If you don't find folks here, there is a Facebook page that is dedicated to the treatment.

Thank you for making the update. Are you referring to "Hematopioetic Stem Cell Transplant - MS & Autoimmune Diseases" or was it another group?

      Thanks.

It's that group, Peter, spelling challenged and all, ha. But take what you read there with a grain of salt (probably more than a few grains). It has a lot of rah-rah cheerleading with few dissenters. And to complicate matters, it gets the facts of HSCT only sorta right. Right enough to look legit, but wrong enough to be very wrong on occasion. The problem: the common member doesn't know which is which.

Note, that docs/nurses specializing in HSCT who I have talked to personally are not fans of that FB page. I gave up trying to correct misinformation on the page moons ago. It was too hard and not worth the inevitable backlash.

        Good luck with your quest!
