  • Herbs & Nutritional Supplements

Hi, I ran across this article and it was really interesting. I know AshNight was interested in vitamins and herbs and this article has a list of them towards the end.

I found another interesting article on what vitamins we should be taking. Please read the comments afterwards as well as they are really interesting:

Some very helpful info on those sites thanks! The nautropath/ayurvedic doctor I saw put me on a detox diet and gave me a few herbal tonics and supplements. Ive also started taking fiber because a lot of MSers have problems with constipation. Dont know why.

        Hi Ash,

Good to hear from you. So I take it you have already started your treatment and are going holistic? That is wonderful to hear. I wish you luck. By the way, what made you decide on Naturopathy out of curiosity?

I was also on rebif for a month, but honestly it just gave me aches and pain and me feel sick. If you have that mindset of "im sick, I need an mri every few months, I have to inject myself" youre just going to feel like a sick person for the rest of your life. This is a life long condition.

The ayurvedic/naturopathh I saw had handles cases of MS, cancer, hepititis, etc and their clinic was featured on CPTV here. She told me not to stress and follow a very healthy regime. She actually had a girl with 7 lesions who never started an interferon. No sayin this is the way everyone should go but there are plenty of folks who choose to do it this way.

Also something im very excited about alemtuzemab/campath. Its very close to being out in England and has promising results. Theyre calling it a "breakthrough"

            Hi Ash,

thank you for your reply. That is very interesting. The reason I asked is because I knew you just had gotten diagnosed not that long ago like me. I don't know if I mentioned but my appointment to see the specialist finally arrived and I am to see him in two weeks time. So I assume he will determine then what type of treatment I will be on, etc. I have never heard of Alemtuzemab/campath, but will look into it sounds exciting! A BREAKTHROUGH is what we really need!

Youtube alemtuzemab for MS, some very good videos on there about it. It seems like a promising drug and something you have to infuse just a few times a yr

Have you guys read anything about magnesium supplementation and MS? I started reading about it on an endurance training website as a way to reduce inflammation - like fish oil. My neuro didn't have an opinion one way or the other on it.

I'm on Copaxone, but I try to incorporate as much of the holistic treatments as well.

                        Hi Banshee & Ash,

funny you should mention Magnesium, I recently was looking into adding calcium to my other supplements I am taking and ran across an article that said for MS take calcium in the form of Dolomite tablets which contain Magnesium. I have since started taking them but it's only early days so I can't say I feel any different. I am sure it will have its long-term benefits though.

Here is the link to the article:
