Yoga MS is a program designed specifically for individuals living with MS. Yoga has been recognized as a beneficial type of exercise in managing MS symptoms and overall health. Benefits of yoga for individuals with MS include: increased balance, strength, and heat tolerance, better stress management, and decrease in fatigue.
Two 8-hour tracks are available, beginning September 4th. Please attend the best fit for you:
•Track One: Gentle Hatha Yoga, 10-11:15 am: Move with your breath and awareness as you gently stretch and strengthen your body. This series is for people who can stand unassisted and get up and down from the floor. We will practice seated, standing and floor poses with modifications for individual differences. Each class will also include breath work, relaxation, and a short meditation.
•Track Two: Seated Yoga, 11:30am - 12:45pm: Seated yoga poses, connected with the breath, will gently help get you moving and deepend your awareness of your body and mind. In each pose you'll learn how to adapt for your individual needs, "dialing it up or down" with the instructor's support and guidance. Each class will also include breath work, relaxation, and a short meditation.
Water will be provided. Some mats are available for those who do not have one. If you need to eat before yoga, eat light. Weekly attendance of each class is recommended by not required. We request that you attend only one of the two track options per day to ensure space is available for everyone who wants to attend. It is ok to switch between track one and track two from week to week.
Dates:
•Beginning Wednesday, September 4, 2013 and ending on October 23, 2013.
