I got the below e-mail from Patricia Miller who organizes the Palo Duro support group. This latest event sounds like great fun! - Dave
Happy holidays, everyone!
Our monthly support group meeting will be at the Palo Duro senior center Mon. Dec. 20th 2 to 4 pm. It will be a "white elephant" gift exchange. For those who are unfamiliar with that, everyone brings something you have around the house you no longer need or want, or an extremely ugly item or a gag gft, wrapped but with no name. Then we will draw numbers, and when your number is called, you can either choose a wrapped gift or one already opened by another. If you choose one another has, then that person makes the same choice of a wrapped gift or one already opened. You may not retrieve a gift you already had in the same turn. It's fun when people try to entice others to choose the gift they have so they can choose another, or try to convince another they don't really want the gift you have opened.
Also bring a snack or dessert item to share. If you rsvp I'll know how many places and papergoods to have. This will be a fun time for all and you may get to see people you don't see very often any more.
Beginning in Jan. we will start holding our meetings on the SECOND Mon. in order to avoid someof the Mon. holidays when the center would be closed.
