  • WEBINAR: MS Cognition Research and Strategies from Can Do MS (Dec 12)

    From Can Do MS

    Cognition Research and Strategies

    Tue, Dec 12, 2017 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM MST
    Show in My Time Zone
    Presenters:
    Abbey Hughes, M.A., Ph.D.
    Pamela H. Miller, MA, CCC-SLP

More than half of people with MS experience cognitive changes, particularly effects on information processing, memory, attention, executive functions, visual perception, and verbal skills. In addition to having a significant impact on a person’s self-identity and confidence, these changes can impair a person’s ability to work, manage daily activities, and communicate with loved ones.

Although physicians noted these common MS symptoms more than 160 years ago, they have not received adequate attention until relatively recently. New studies are providing revelatory insights into the causes and treatment of cognitive symptoms, while rehabilitation specialists are providing empowering approaches for managing and adjusting to these changes.

On December 12, join Dr. Abbey Hughes and Pamela Miller for a comprehensive look at cognitive research and strategies. Abbey, a clinical psychologist with expertise in MS rehabilitation research, has been at the forefront of some of the leading studies on health behaviors and their impact on cognitive dysfunction in people with MS. As a nationally-recognized speech-language pathologist and MS Certified Specialist for over 25 years, Pamela teaches strategies and techniques to cope with a wide variety of cognitive problems. Together, Abbey and Pamela will lead an multidisciplinary discussion that will answer your questions on cognition and MS, including:

    - What research is currently being done to identify and alleviate cognitive problems? What progress has been made?
    - Why does MS affect cognition and which functions might be affected?
    - How will I notice if a cognitive function has changed/is changing?
    - Whom should I turn to for help?
    - What can I expect at a cognitive evaluation?
    - Can impairments improve? What happens next?
    - What strategies can help me manage my daily life better?
    - How can I involve my family, friends, and coworkers Less

    Hey, Dave.
Do you still do luminosity games? How are you doing? my stats are now pretty flat and some game I can’t get close of my best score, some other one I get in the 5 best ones in a while.

After I got to 99 percent, my subscription expired and I didn't renew. Plus I enjoyed the games perhaps a bit too much. I love challenges and was playing a tad too much to maintain my score, ha.
