Wednesday, 25th of May 2011 will mark the third annual World MS Day celebrated around the globe. MS Ireland will join with other societies around to world to raise awareness of MS and mobilise the public around issues affecting people with MS and their families.
Like the previous two years, MS Ireland has lots of activities and events planned that focus on the challenges faced by MS but also the many services and supports available. This year we are focusing on four activities:
Supporting the global movement and their theme of employment. Sign the petition and raise awareness of your employment issues with relevant stakeholders
The launch of the MS Living series - a range of information sheets about various symptoms and life events relating to MS. These are practical guides to addressing issues and managing MS as effectively as possible
The launch of our partnership with the University of Limerick – this research partnership will help us increase the number and scope of research being done into various aspects of MS. Working with many of the academic schools – physiotherapy, nursing, engineering etc – we will develop projects that deepen our understanding of MS but also inform or create adequate interventions that benefit people with MS now
The launch of our ‘McVitie’s Cookies That Care’ campaign – a fundraising drive to support our local services and the MS Care Centre
