  • Australian gets HALT-MS style SCT

Aussie Carmel Turner recently was transplanted using a protocol like HALT-MS, using BEAM chemotherapy before getting her refreshed stem cells. Here's her story.

She also has started to do a video blog:

She's added more videos of her experience (have not yet watched them) and it appears she's not done uploading. Here's her YouTube channel:

Carmel Turner - The Aussie chick

      Hello Dave
I heard of you from Lisa. I watched your video. It was brilliant.
Unfortunately MS Australia has ruled out funding any research around this treatment. So we have very different MS societies supporting research. MSA and MSRA point to the US trials and say lets wait and see their results. If positive we will do some trials. So I am encouraging people to find US people that have finance difficulty in getting into the trials and help them rather than MSA. The sooner your trials come to an end. The sooner we get the treatment here in Australia according to MSA policy.. So i am looking for people like Lisa to post on my web site.
We also have a very different medical system. I find it abhorrent what you guys are paying for treatment.
I am also trying to assist those in Australia to argue with their neurologist as an equal and provide access to any research around this treatment. My neurologist gave me this treatment without a trial why can't others?

I have setup a web site around my treatment and in contact with Aussie MS 'ers around the country. Some have gained access and about to get the treatment in September - November.

Under the section of "in the media" there is a story of the young boy Ben who went before me. It gives a good background to the current status of this treatment here in Australia.

I am going to post your video on my website. Like i said it was brillant. Well done Dave.

Thanks for helping spreading the message.

It's great to hear from you, Carmel. Nice website. I'll be going through it in more detail once I get caught up from my study trip this past week. Looks like you are doing some fine things.
