I stumbled on this cycling company and I'll have to do a bit more research, but their bikes look especially geared to those with disabilities like MS. The downside--they are big and heavy, making transport to the bike trail a bit challenging.

The way the arms power the cycle is especially cool and reminds me of the Irish Mail I used to ride as a kid. Check out the video to see how it works. Sweet!

Our Duo and Duette recumbent quadracycle two-seat models allow a caretaker to ride side-by-side with the person they are caring for. Our Tandemizer hitch allows either of our recumbent trikes to be towed by any kind of bike or trike, providing the following rider with a stable, easy-to-use platform. Both the side-by-side Duo/Duette recumbent quadricycles and a Tandemized trike can permit a person with little or no eyesight to ride with a sighted companion. Our Greenway recumbent trike, especially in its widest configuration, provides a very high level of stability for persons with balance challenges. The Arm Power Handlebar option converts most of our models to arm-power or combined-arm-and-leg power, accommodating weak or missing lower limbs. Electric assist can provide riders who have MS with a backup source of power to get themselves home if their muscle energy becomes depleted. We have developed a series of plug-in options to further accommodate special requirements.
The Arm-Power Handlebar allows arms and legs to work together in powering your cycle. This feature can be used by persons with compromised leg function in one or both limbs, by persons with a missing leg, or by persons with full use of their legs.
The Arm-Power Handlebar (“APH”) provides a more full-body workout than pedaling with legs alone. This system creates a way for persons with compromised limb function to use every bit of their still-functional limbs to power their cycle. It can be used with one leg or two.
