I had recommended the BD Clip in the last ActiveMSers' newsletter. It's a device that clips off the needle of your syringe, allowing you to dispose of the spent medicine however you please. Well, it turns out while it is legal in some places, it is not legal everywhere. So stick (pardon the pun) with sharps containers and dispose of your medication properly.

Needle clipper recommendation wrong

I'm curious. Where is it illegal?
I guess you're really referring to the needle -less syringes that are left behind?
Although I use the clipper, I still turn over my filled Sharps Container, with the clipped syringes/plungers inside, to a facility that disposes of them safely.
After all, the syringes are still made of glass and I can well see them as a hazzard.

The concern is more about residual medication left in the syringe than the glass. I don't know the states (or countries) where disposing of the syringe in the regular trash is prohibited, so to be on the safe side I recommend proper disposal (with or without clipping).Dave Bexfield
