It's still early in exoskeleton development, but these things will help reshape walking as they get more and more refined. The Phoenix is the latest and arguably the most practical: light (27 lbs), flexible (can sit in a wheelchair wearing one), and (ahem) less expensive than the others: about $40K. Top speed is about 1.1 mph, so not quick, but again, early days. I see lots of potential. It obviously won't work for everyone (how much upper body strength is needed?), but any progress in aiding mobility is a plus. - D
The Phoenix exoskeleton is the world's lightest and most advanced exoskeleton designed to help people with mobility disorders to be upright and mobile. In the clinic, at home, and in the workplace Phoenix has successfully enabled many individuals to stand up, walk about, and speak to peers eye-to-eye.
