In Italy I couldn't find a wheelchair to save my life. And if I did, they were rentals for the week at a price nearly as much as just buying one. But France was anther story. Virtually every pharmacy, and they are everywhere, rents chairs for 7-10 euro a day. Perfect. I didn't have to lug my personal chair onto trains, into cabs, etc. I just got a chair when I needed one (like in Paris). Even better: there were plentiful curb cuts and, unlike in Italy, people didn't park in front of them....
