ning.com is a network of sites. You can add friends from other ning sites, but the sites themselves are social websites with a common purpose.

I belong several ning sites. They have groups, forums, pm's and personal profile pages. The profile pages are like myspace where you add friends.

My friends and I have created a ning site for Our Heart Greeting, a creative giving group for friends of MS, www.ohgreeting.ning.com. We stay active by creating, our members include photographers, potters, quilters, watercolorist etc.

An Active MSers ning would be an avenue to consider. By the way, you've done a great job with this site. I'm very impressed with the tons of info!
