  • Travel companions for solo travelers

I got an e-mail from a fellow active MSer from England who a) enjoys travel and b) is looking for a travel companion, as he often needs help for long distances, requiring the use of a wheelchair. Of course he can always hire an assistant, but it will more than double the cost of any trip. A Luggie travel scooter is an option, and helps significantly with solo travel. But nothing beats the convenience of a companion I'll admit. Other ideas?

Here's one site that might help that I found: http://www.disabledtravelers.com/travel_companions.htm

Here's a site that specifically offers travel companions: Flying Wheels Travel. They've been in the biz for a number of years--since 1970! I have not worked with them personally, but I would be inclined to give them a try. They'll go just about anywhere, including areas of the world that on the surface do not appear terribly accessible (e.g., Machu Picchu). They also do group tours. Maybe there is an ActiveMSers tour in the future?
