MS and Exercise
Researchers from the Neurophysiology of Movement Laboratory on the University of Colorado Boulder campus and the Multiple Sclerosis Center on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus are conducting a study to investigate the capacity of neuromuscular electrical stimulation to improve walking in persons with multiple sclerosis.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
• Are between 18-55 years of age
• Have clinically confirmed diagnosis of MS
• Are able to walk, but have some difficulty walking

Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups that will each receive different types of neuromuscular electrical stimulation

The study will involve 5 evaluation and 18 treatment sessions over 6 months:
• Evaluation (~ 2 hours per session)
• Assess muscle strength and walking ability
• Two sessions on five occasions: before treatment and at 0, 1, 3, and 6 months after treatment
• Treatment (~1 hour per session)
• Three times per week for six weeks

Participants will be compensated.
