  • Airplanes and crutches?

Sorry if this question is posted somewhere already, but has anyone taken forearm crutches on an airplane trip?

I could take my beater air as they do collapse but I'd prefer to take my sidestix, which don't without the Allen wrench.

    Any advice?

It's no prob, LivWell. They just go in the above bin on most planes (I put them in last). On international flights where bins might not be as long, the airline folks find other places. To get to and from the bathroom, seat surf usually is the way to go....

I learned to put mine in the overhead AFTER it was almost full. The first time that I flew with forearm crutches I took my favorite pair, since I was among the passengers to board they went in the bin first. When we arrived at our destination my poor crutches were bent.

I will remember this my next trip. The attendant put my crutches in first and needed to put his body weight into the bin to shut it. Smaller plane with no closets. One of the tips was pushed in but no other damage thankfully.
