  • ActiveMSers logo featured on pro race jersey! Instant karma! UPDATED!

Uber pro triathlete Kelly Williamson has added the ActiveMSers logo to her race jersey with her other sponsors! This is super cool... but even cooler: if she does well in her next race, the San Juan 70.3 March 18 (during MS awareness week), she's committed to donate part of her winnings to multiple sclerosis causes. And that's not small potatoes.

Odds are good she'll finish in the money (top 8 female racers). She's the defending champion, winning the event last year after closing with a dominating run. And as the kickoff to the 70.3 season, the total San Juan event prize money is up big time to $75,000, with the winner taking $15K! Go Kelly!!!

Participants will start with a 1.2-mile swim in the protected waters of the Condado Lagoon followed by a transition in the Sixto Escobar Stadium, adjacent to the Caribe Hilton. Athletes will then have a 56-mile bike that will take them from San Juan, to the municipality of Dorado and into T2, experiencing beachfront views and several short but challenging climbs. The 13.1-mile run will lead participants through the city of Old San Juan and past 16th-century Spanish architecture, including the famous Fort San Felipe Del Morro.

Thanks Dave. I am stoked to have been able to get the logo on my kit as it can be a challenge sometimes with sponsors, but I think it's such a great organization and I am happy to do anything I can to help spread the word. I'm proud to help represent y'all a bit and I hope to be able to represent well next weekend & all season long! By the way if any of you are in the Bentonvile, Arkansas area check out this event, TriFest for MS, Labor Day Weekend: http://www.researchms.org/trifest/ I cannot make it to the race but I have spoken with Scott Rampy and I hope to get him my QR CD0.1 white bike (which I rode in San Juan 70.3 last year 2011!) to auction it off for a good cause at this event.

Kelly dominated the race—when she is close enough to see your back in the run, it's all over—and took victory by over 4 minutes! She even broke the course record by 1:20 (um, she held the record). I know what you all are thinking--it must be the new jersey. Yeah that one, with the ActiveMSers logo. I KNOW! Instant karma! Way to go, Kelly! And on the final day of MS Awareness Week. So apropos.

Kelly won again today! Oh sorry, DOMINATED. Way to go Kelly. 4:13:27. She's now 2-for-2 with the new jersey.

The women's race at Ironman 70.3 Texas, the U.S. Pro Championship, was won by American Kelly Williamson (Austin, TX). Though it really wasn't much of a race -- Williamson absolutely dominated the run and finished more than five minutes before the runner-up, Yvonne van Vlerken (Netherlands).

Kelly trains weekly with Lance Armstrong, who finished 7th in the race. If only Lance had the ActiveMSers' logo on his jersey....

Once again Kelly rocked it out at the Muncie 70.3 (shorted because of the heat), winning for the fourth time this season with her new jersey! This makes her 4-for-6 sporting the ActiveMSers logo. She now has a total of five first place finishes this year in eight races. Her 4 minute victory is even more impressive as the race was shortened to a 1 mile swim, 30-mile bike, and a 10k run. Her next race isn't until September, when she'll hit three major races in three weeks before October's Ironman. Rock on, Kelly!

Kelly Williamson (USA) took the top spot for the pro women as she simply over-powered the rest of the women on the run course. She finished a full 4 minutes ahead of the women’s field with an overall time of 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Kelly had another super solid race this weekend, coming in 6th--winning $18K against a field of very heavy-hitters at the Hy-Vee 5150 Triathlon in Iowa. The winner, Lisa Norden of Sweden, had missed gold by inches at the Olympics, but $150K for the win (plus bonuses) softens that blow. Yes, that's $150,000, which is why most serious pros were competing here.

Here are the results. Kelly always rocks the run, and once again had the fastest time. Way to go, Kelly!

Once again, Kelly rules. She took 2nd in the 70.3 world championships this last weekend in Las Vegas with a mind-blowing run (fastest in the competition), almost catching the Olympic champion. Her next race, and final race of the season, is the Ironman World Championships October 13. Go Kelly, go!
