I知 62 years young, have had MS since I was at least 18, according to my neurologist, and have been athletic all my life. My proprioception on my feet is shit. I fail the Romberg every time. I use a cane/stick for walking, but if I get on a road bike, something magical happens! I can go quite a ways, still.
I can walk, aided for about a mile, before my energy just craps out. But put me on my (carbon fiber)road bike, I知 good for about 15-20miles before I feel as spent as 1 mile of walking. My question is, how does cycling compare to walking, energy wise, in more or less absolute numbers? I know cycling burns more calories per 30 minutes than walking, but I guess I知 more interested in METS, Ergs, or any other more or less concrete units.
Thanks,
Lisa
