  • Excited about tomorrow

I never thought I’d be excited about a doctors appointment. Tomorrow I see the neuro-ophthalmologist for the first time. Why am I excited? Because it’s taken NINE months to see any one. Some history:

CIS of ON in 2013. It resolved and luckily had nothing major. I was asymptomatic until this past spring (2020) I started getting tremors. I presented to my MD office in July. He ordered an MRI. I waited until the end of OCTOBER to get that MRI. It came back with many lesions. The report confirmed MS. My MD referred me to a neurologist and an neuro-ophthalmologist. The neuro appointment was originally scheduled for April 19th. The neuro cancelled on me and reset the appointment to May 31st (about TEN month from my initial presentation at my MDs office). So, tomorrow is the first time I’ll see anyone of any expertise. One should not have to wait nine months to see a specialist. Welcome to Universal Health (sick) care. I live in Ontario, Canada.

Needless to say, I’m excited to finally see someone who might be able to help me.

So sorry it took so long for you to see a specialist. I sure hope who you see tomorrow can get things sorted for you!

      Good luck Pistachio
I'm in Ontario as well. Haven't seen my neuro or dr in person since b4 covid. I'm married to an xray tech of 20 + years. Our health professionals actually do their best with what they have. The bigger problem is the politicians telling them how to operate. (Sorry had to vent). I wish you luck tomorrow!!

Totally. I wasn’t bashing individuals but the system. It’s a broken system.

Hi Pistachio, I hope you had a good visit with your neuro ophthalmologist and got some answers you were looking for. There are not many neuro ophthalmologists in general. The best one I ‘ve seen was actually trained and from Canada!

In recent years there are sites on the web that can test color contrast sensitivity and visual field for do it yourself neurotics like me, but of course it is really just highlighting if something might be amiss and an ophthalmologist of some needs to consult. here are 2 apps I use to check everything a.ok. When something seems off visually....

          visual fields app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/visual...sy/id495389227

all tests eye tests (under testing menu)https://eyehandbook.com/EHBweb/
